Ketchup Food Community: Iyak sa Sarap
I've been in Baguio City in the Philippines for quite sometime now. It is a neighboring city of La Union, my province, so it's just easy to go and visit the place as convenient as it is.
As the city of Baguio continues to develop and progress, different establishments were built at the same time. Food chains and different restos are part of it, of course.
For me not to waste time to look for a good resto that really serves delicious menu, I asked some of my good friends who were there. My friend Matty suggested the Ketchup Food Community. He even said that the food is "Iyak sa Sarap" which means "It's goodness will make you cry". I find it interesting coz he highly reccommend it to me.
Ketchup Food Community, is place that caters home-grown food concept restaurants of different origins in Baguio City that make up a community of dining places in just an area.
Located along Romula Drive just near the Wright Park where you can visit after eating, the community composed of the following:
•Rumah Sate:
It offers Malaysian and Indonesian Cuisines.
•Green Pepper:
They serve gourmet style of food.
•Rancho Norte:
They serve Filipino comfort foods and drinks. Signature dishes include the different variations of their tapa. They have it in horse meat, deer meat, and wild boar meat.
•Happy Tummy:
It offers Thai inspired Filipino concept on food.
And the one we chose to try, Canto.
Canto serves mainly American cuisines. They are best known for their Baby Back Ribs specialty.
As what we've seen when we went there, there were too much customers inside that's why we still need to wait outside the resto for the availability of tables.
With me were my friends, Daren and Nic. The cold breeze of Baguio City really helps our waiting time cooler.
After a short time of waiting, finally a table was available inside.
I got shots of their MENU:
For us we ordered Lomo Ribs- whole slab with 3 cups of rice, Beef Kelby, Dessert Nachos, Dr. Pepper drink and Fruit juice.
Lomo Ribs- whole slab
Cost: 400 pesos
Grilled Barbeque Pork Ribs with homemade BBQ sauce, served with Cascade Salad, rice or mashed pototoes with gravy.
I've tasted some resto's baby back ribs already and I can say it's one of the best I've ever tasted. The meat was so tender and well cooked. The BBQ sauce compliments well with the grilled baby back ribs. It's not too sweet and not too salty. It's smell add more appetite to the food. The Salad was freshly made and the condiments used were mixed well. Oops, the presentation was also nice. I highly recommend this.
Beef Kelby
Cost: 160 pesos
Stir fried beef strips served with vegetable salad, nori rice topped with egg.
The beef was also tender and well cooked. The vegetable salad was fresh and well mixed and prepared.
We had Dessert Nachos for dessert.
Cost: 170 pesos
Scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with fruits, syrups, brittle brits and whipped cream. Served with cinnamon dusted nachos.
Oh well, what can I even say with this one? The presentation is quite so attractive and appetizing, right? Though we're already tummy full with our main course, we can't resist this one at all.
The nachos were crispy and savory. Try to deep it with their smooth ice cream. It's beyond perfection.
Drinks:
Dr. Pepper: 60
2 Fruit Juices: 40 each
Over-all, we were absolutely satisfied with their food. It's not a waste of money. Infact, it's affordable. You must try it when you're in Baguio City. As what my friend said "Iyak Sarap".
Anyways, the good thing about Ketchup Food Community is that you can order from different restos in their place and they will serve it to the resto you want to be seated. Unfortunately, we just knew it right after we finished our meal. But I'll surely comeback here. I'll try the other restos probably soon.
