Mutia Ti La Union 2020: Comments and Hot Picks
As Mutia Ti La Union 2020 Coronation night is fast approaching and I really do love sharing my thoughts and opinions about the candidates and give my hot picks, here’s now my top 10 personal choice for the crown.
To begin with, I just want to say that this year’s Mutia Ti La Union is so far the BEST edition when it comes to preparation and pageant activities. I just love the fact that as early as the first week of January, the official 20 candidates from different municipalities and a city were already announced. This is the reason why some of the reigning queens of each town weren’t chosen to be there representatives. Unluckily, they were crowned late and the organizers of each municipalities need to submit a representative already.
This year, the press & media presentation was separated from the candidates talent event which I guess a good choice. The presence of some pageant bloggers, media & press writers and personalities was a good marketing strategy to start the pageant events. The glam shots were stunning and were released just on time. The FB page made for Mutia Ti La Union 2020 is so updated that makes the viewers and followers feel the Mutia fever. The change between the Electric-Float Parade to Agri-Tourism campaign videos is a fresh addition to the pageant utilizing the world of social media which is rampant nowadays. With this, people will see and experience the beauty of each municipalities giving them the national & International caliber outputs. Indeed a good marketing strategy for the province. Next is the photo shoot with some provincial products such as wooden baskets and Abel fabrics were nice moves to showcase what else can the province offer. I just expected more about the latest swimsuit photos. For me, much better if they also utilize the beaches of the province just for an additional promotion but nevertheless, everything is on point.
The abel fashion show and the agri-tourism costume show was another new event added for this year. It levels up the entire competition to a higher bar. The stage, host, the lights and what even makes it more proud were the live chorale & ethnic dancers that served as the background music and dancers of the entire show. The participation of some international models is good but it would have been better if the reigning queens and runner ups also participated on the show. All the costumes presented were amazingly stunning with its intricate and international caliber designs. They were all made by local designers.
Then the candidates.
As what I’ve noticed from the past 3 years, there’s always ONE favorite girl who always missed to penetrate the first cut. For this batch, I’m scared that one top hot picks bet for the crown from others might have the same destiny.

From the last 3 years, there were some prominent names in the provincial and other nearby provinces’ pageantry that shines already even if the competition was just started. However for this year, i can see only few familiar names who happened to compete also from other municipalities which I think their edge for this year’s crown.
Miss Bauang
Miss Sto. Tomas
Miss Pugo
Miss Agoo
Miss Rosario
The only Mutia Ti La Union repeater is Miss City of San Fernando who already competed representing Bangar and Miss Agoo’s Carina Carino emerged as that year’s Mutia Ti La Union.
New faces are a breathe of fresh air for this year because they’re giving a well and on point performances with all the events making no clear winner for this year.
My first hotpicks are the following based only with the first glam shots released.
1. Bacnotan
2. Naguillian
3. Balaoan
4. Rosario
5. San Juan
6. Luna
7. Agoo
8. Sto. Tomas
9. City of San Fernando
10. San Gabriel
After the press and media presentation, my first choices written above were totally changed. I based it through their communication skills by answering the questions thrown to them by the audience (consist of pageant bloggers, media writers, press representatives. The 3 ladies that really caught my attention were Miss Sudipen, Miss Sto. Tomas and Bacnotan.

Meanwhile, the basket photo shoot standouts are Sto. Tomas, Pugo, Balaoan, Bangar, Rosario, and Aringay.
For all the photoshoots, the Miss Photegenic Award for me will be a close fight between Aringay or Balaoan.
Let's go for the Agri-Tourism costume fashion show, the standout costumes fro me are Tubao, Bagulin, Bangar, Sto. Tomas, Agoo, and Caba
With all the events happened, I finally came up with a TOP 10 that for me really standout and might possibly get the crown.
Bubbling Up is Miss Balaoan and Miss Naguillian. I didn't include them with my final 10 because I think they need to work more with there looks and styling. I want to see more of there other sides,
10th: Miss City of San Fernando: Aside from the fact that she has the sash factor, she's also one the sweetest face among the candidates. I love her when she smiles. She failed on her first Mutia Ti La Union stint but now she's back fresher and more confident. It's just think that she has the tendency to easily get nervous most especially during Q&A that's why she can't express well her answers. Just relax and have more fun on the stage, then she'll definitely perform good.
9th: Miss Bangar: I think she's the shortest among the 20 candidates this year but her facial expressions is I guess her asset for the competion. Her looks and styling are always on point that is giving us the Zozibini Tunzi vibes. Infact Mutia Ti La union already crowned a short hair queen with Miss Donna Erno, so she might be the next. She just need to work more on her communication skills and I know she can do more of what she's giving us now. Just for an additional information, she's the 1st princess of the reigning Mutia Ti Turismo, Miss Kristine Aquino, in Miss Bangar 2019.
8th: Miss Pugo: One of the pageant veterans for this batch. She competed numerous pageants both from La Union and Ilocos Sur including Miss Agoo 2018, Miss Virginia Tobacco 2019, and Miss Sto. Tomas 2019 wherein Victoria Tavas emerged as the queen and now representing Miss Sto. Tomas. I think she's one of the best catwalks for this batch. She knows has an amazing stage presence and very confident in all pageant events. I don't know what went wrong with her with all her pageants because she always failed to penetrate the first cut. Hopefully, she'll perform well on the coronation night for her to secure a spot on the top 10.
7th: Miss Agoo: Physically she has an angle of Miss World 2013 Megan Young. She's pretty and sexy and no doubt because she's wearing the Miss Agoo sash that produced many queens for Mutia Ti La Union. What I only can say about her is her communication skills. She needs to work on that because that is I guess her weakness. Just answer with confidence and she's on it.
6th: Miss Aringay: One of the prettiest face this year. She has that angelic face that really screams crown. she really evolved from a shy type aura in Binibining Rosario 2019 wherein Ladyma Padilla representing Rosario was crowned. Just little more work on her catwalk and communication skills and she's really in.
Now with my top 5. Based from the previous years, the top 5 are always chosen from the casual interviewduring that night. So I come up with a conclusion of the possible candidates that might give a confident and strong answer during the top 10 casual interview.
5th: Miss Bauang: One of the tallest and sexiest candidate this year. Her styling and looks are on point. One of the best catwalks during the fashion show. She has a strong and commanding stage presence. I can say that she's one of the pageant veterans in a very young age. She already competed in Miss City of San Fernando and one of the top 5 and even MIss Sto. Tomas and was crown as Miss Barangay. She was crowned as Miss Barangay in Miss Bauang 2019 and was chosen to represent the municipality for this year's Mutia Ti La Union. Her recent pageant experiences from both in Ilocos Sur and inside La Union will definitely give her an edge to answer well the casual interview.
4th: Miss Rosario: I think she's the real darkhorse of the batch. One of my personal favorite candidates for this year. I really love her performance during the coronation night of Binibining Rosario 2019 and I can feel that she'll perform well also in Mutia stage. She has an oozing sex appeal and I want her to release and use that on the coronation night. She's a beauty to watchout for and she just need to be relax and answer the question well on the interviews, then she'll be on top 5.
3rd: Miss Bacnotan: Honestly, my top 3 are the candidates that can really speak well and confidently. They can all can really express there thoughts well. I just placed her on the third spot because among the three, she's the one weaker with the catwalks. Just a proper wardrobe and styling, I know she can make the top 5 and aswer well the interview round and definitely secure her self a crown.
2nd: Miss Sto. Tomas. I really love her way of attacking a question given to her. She was asked many times during the press presentation and answered all of it confidently. She just have the tendency to get little stiff with her catwalk and same styling with all the previous pageants she joined. I just love her with a new look and I know she'll definitely be a crown material.
1st: Miss Sudipen: I know she might just have an ordinary and simple beauty among them all. With proper styling and wardrobe, I know she'll standout. Infact she's the tallest among them all. She can answer questions given to her well and confidently. She can express well her thoughts. Infact Mutia Ti La Union always crown someone who can really speak well. Knowing that Miss Universe-Philippines National director will be one of the judges, I can feel that Miss Sudipen is a good choice to win the crown this year and might probably be the province representative for nect year's Miss Universe Philippines. A tall, sexy and well spoken lady that can represent well the province.
By the way, this is just my opinon and my observations. I just want to share it to you guys. all the photos used are not mine and I credits it all to the rightful owner. If you are in the Philippines, watch the coronation night on March 2, 2020 at the Baywalk, Poro Point, City of San Fernadon, La Union.
Thanks for reading!
